The Dragon Quest series kicked off in 1986 and has picked up a lot of fans along the way, there has been a lot of interesting surrounding the release of Dragon Quest 6, IGN’s recent review shows promising signs for fans of the series, however also disappointing tones for new gamers.

The review first makes it clear that you will either love this game or hate it, the reason for this is that you will only really love it if you have been a fan of the Dragon Quest series throughout its time, however if you have never played a Dragon Quest game before you may be dissapointed.

Modern RPG’s like Final Fantasy have moved on and developed far more than Dragon Quest VI, this is great for fans of the series, however to others the game looks and feels like a game which could have been released 15 years ago, IGN did state that the menus are very good, the class system adds depth and the 50 hours plus will take you to fully explore the game are all major pros.

On the flip side, the story is noted as being “laughably bad” (which is no surprise for fans of the series) and the music can get a little repetetive due to the length of the game, check out IGN’s review for yourself here, will you buy Dragon Quest VI or do you think the series needs a revamp?
