We have a fresh recall to inform you about now, and it is bad news if you are the owner of certain Lasko and Air King heater models. The Consumer Product Safety Commission has just issued a voluntary recall affecting both products.
According to the Epoch Times, around 107,000 heaters have been recalled due to a potential fire hazard which affects the Lasko Model 5540 and Air King Model 8540 type of heaters.
The problem with these specific heaters can lead to overheating at the bottom of the products, which in turn could cause the heaters to melt, exposing the live wires, obviously becoming a dangerous fire hazard. The good news, is that no serious injuries have been reported, but the CPSC has said that there has been 18 complaints about burns to floors and carpets.
Do you own either the Lasko 5540 or Air King 8540 heater? If so, you should stop using the heater straight away and contact Lasko immediately for a free replacement. We’ve found the contact number for you to call Lasko here – (800) 363-8044. Alternatively, you can visit their website here for further information.
