When it comes to finding a job most of us already in work will know just how tough it is, but we should still share a thought for those who are still in the hunt. We know that jobs are now much harder to find than in the 80’s when I left school, but then again there are more tools at your disposal, such as social media. If I have learned anything in life it is the importance of persistence.

Social media is a different beast to what it was a few years back when it was finding its feet, as it was a way to have fun and socialize with friends. However, things have evolved since then and more and more would be employees and employers are using social media as a way to search and advertise for job positions. Maybe next time a parent bursts into their Childs room and ask what they are doing on one of the numerous social networking sites, maybe they are just looking for work?

We have now learned that social media can help in the job hunt, but how do you go about it in the first place? DailyFinance has offered their expertise in the matter and have listed five easy steps; if you follow them then you could land that perfect job for you.

Those five steps are Start Constructing Your Network Early, Don’t Fear Facebook, Stay Tuned In, Make It Personal and Play Friendly, and Do Unto Others. Some of you might not agree with all five, but there are certainly some great tips that you can take from this.

One piece of advice that we will give you, try not to leave any nasty comments on the Internet, all an employer has to do is start searching your name in the search engine and chances are you will show up – including all those swear words.
