Apple iPad 2: Do Elton John comments confirm April release?

By Gary Johnson - Feb 7, 2011

We have been reporting a lot of news lately regarding rumors and speculation about the release of the Apple iPad 2, but today we have an unusual source regarding the latest release date of the device.

Cnet is reporting that Sir Elton John was being interviewed on BBC Breakfast this morning about his new movie, Gnomeo and Juliet. Nothing unusual there you may think, but when the pop legend commented about not liking gadgets, he said he plans to get an iPad in April for video-calling his new son.

He was talking about not having various gadgets like a phone, but then said “they’re coming out with a Skype iPad in April”. Then he goes on to say he will need one so he can talk to his son when not at home. This was not the first time Sir Elton John has commented on the iPad, he came out with the same statement last week in an interview with The Telegraph.

RegHardware doesn’t think that Sir Elton John has any inside information about the iPad 2, but in fact he has been reading the same speculation we all have on the Internet. But if he doesn’t like gadgets would he spend his time reading about them on the web?

What do you think has Sir Elton John been given some privileged information by Apple?
