Yesterday we spoke about how Apple could make NFC popular by integrated it into their iPhone 5, now we have heard details regarding LG’s NFC plans, apparently their devices won’t offer it until 2012.
A recent article posted on UK Reuters suggests that LG plan to launch NFC in Europe in 2012, LG’s vice president for business solutions (Jin-Yong Kim) also revealed that the contactless payment system is currently in beta testing.
Kim didn’t reveal any other major NFC news, however did mention that LG plan to integrate NFC chips into a whole range of devices, obviously tablets and smartphones are the most likely, however don’t be too surprised if we see NFC in interactive TVs and security systems.
According to Analysts Frost & Sullivan, NFC’s future is bright, they expect there to be 860 million NFC-enabled mobile phones in use by 2015, they also suggest that the technology “will be the most-used solution for mobile payment”.
This news pretty much confirms that the upcoming LG G-Slate will not feature any NFC support, I wonder if they will live to regret this, I think they may if the iPad 2 and iPhone 5 does allow contactless payments, what do you think?
