Toshiba T750 Laptop: Color Depends Angle

Japanese giants bring to you, what they claim to be the first of its kind, the new Qosmio T750. The feature that makes this laptop so unique is its color changing lid. Well sort of, it just depends what angle you’re looking at it from.

You may be thinking, that’s not unique, we have seen other products that offer various different colors to choose from for your laptop before, such as the MacBook Air. ColorWare, who are behind these customizations, don’t offer designs that actually change color though.

The illusion of the color changing comes from a technique called Picasus. The blue-lidded box has metallic colors that run from turquoise through to deep blue and purple. The trick lies in Toshiba’s use of several polyester laminate films, which together give a metallic look without actually using any metal.

So far this laptop, which boasts a 750GB hard drive, 4GB of DDR 3 memory, 2.66GHz Intel Core i5-480M, 1366 x 768 LED-backlit display, Harman Kardon speakers, a 15.6in display, Gigabit Ethernet, 2.4/5GHz 802.11n Wi-Fi, plus HDMI, eSata and USB 2.0 ports, and will only be available in Japan. However, with no news of a UK release, Reg Hardware ‘reckon it won’t be very long before the design makes its way Westward.’

Would this design appeal to you? How essential is having a custom color to you when purchasing a laptop?
