Following on from our earlier article, which informed you about the alarming news that the upcoming Motorola Xoom tablet could be priced at $800, we now have a different price which has been leaked, and you’ll be pleased to know that it’s considerably cheaper.
As reported from Phandroid, some leaked Best Buy documents have apparently slipped out, and it suggests that the Honeycomb equipped Xoom tablet will be available from Best Buy for $699 – $100 cheaper than what another leaked Verizon document stated.
Not only that, but the Best Buy leak also reveals that the Xoom will be launching on February 17th, which is probably a lot earlier than most of you had expected, since we previously only knew that it would be available during Q1 this year.
While the $699 price does seem a little more ‘reasonable’ it does pose the question as to if Verizon’s alleged $800 price tag is real or not. Considering that the tablet will carry Verizon branding on it, would they really allow Best Buy to sell it for $100 cheaper – it seems unlikely doesn’t it?
We’ll bring you more news on this as we get it. You can view the Best Buy documents over at Phandroid.
