T-Mobile Vibrant: Android 2.2 Froyo Release Date Confirmed

We have some good news for those of you with a Samsung Galaxy S on T-Mobile, as the company has just announced that the official Android 2.2 Froyo update will be rolling out this weekend.

As reported from BGR, you’ll be pleased to know that the update will be available to download starting from Friday 21st January – i.e tomorrow for most of you. The update may have taken too long to release, but you have to agree that the update coming out now is better than not at all.

Even though T-Mobile are preparing to bring out the successor to the T-Mobile Vibrant, it’s nice to see that they still want to keep their original fanbase happy, as they could have easily left users on 2.1 – giving them the option to update to the Samsung Galaxy S 4G which will come with Froyo pre-installed.

As with most official Froyo rollouts, the update process will be a gradual one, so don’t panic if you do not receive the OTA notification tomorrow. For those of you that do, let us know how your handset fairs afterwards. We’ll be telling you about the new Vibrant 4G a bit later on.

    News flash!!!! Big surprise!!!! Just called T-Mobile tech support and they only see updates today for Nokia devices… BUT NO FROYO 2.2 FOR SAMSUNG VIBRANT!!!!

    I think that they were surprised by what I said about hearing all the news regarding the PC mag interview with the so called big cheese from TMo.

    I swear these bloggers do it just to get clicks on their sites!

    What a bunch of liars!!! These blog sites spreading the false rumors around about the Froyo update remind me of penny stock shell companies that take your money and then push a reverse split of 50,000:1 except instead of taking your money they take your time and waste it!

    I just chatted with a t-mobile agent today (1/21/11) about the upgrade and this is the response I got that got me pissed off :

    "_James C: After checking I do not show that the update for the Samsung Vibrant to the Android 2.2 software has been released yet. That is being rolled out to our customers that have the MyTouch 1.2 though. So at this time we do not have any information about when that update will be rolled out for the Vibrant."

    Is there anybody out there that got the offical t-mobile upgrade yet? please tell me that this agent doesn't know what he's talking about. I hope t-mobile didn't lie about the upgrade just to shut us up.

    Patience is a virtue! This was just announced. AGAIN twice over, mind you, but just announced nevertheless. There will be plenty of time to freak out if the weekend passes and no Froyo.
    T-Mo and Samsung dont want more bricked phones and I sure dont want mine to be a $200 dollar paperweight. They will lose alot of business if they don't start rolling soon.

    i tryed Kies and Kies mini both but would never work on my vibrant. i then called samsung about the issue and they asured me that they knew nothing about 2.2 coming to the vibrant. they said i have the current verison…… 2.1-update. i rooted my last on just to get 2.2 but lagged way to much for me, its whatever tmobile and samsung suck.
