Apple fans finally got the news they had been hoping for yesterday, when Tim Cook – Steve Jobs’ stand-in – officially confirmed that they are indeed working on the iPad 2 (see previous article here). As you know, there have been quite a few rumors surrounding the upcoming device.
One of the said rumors is about the possibility of the iPad 2 having two cameras, both rear and front-facing cameras. There appears to have been quite a bit of evidence pointing towards this being the case, including a recent image posted on the 9to5Mac.com website by Seth Weintraub.
As Seth notes, the image displays the wallpaper on the latest beta, which appears to show icons for FaceTime, Photobooth and Camera. He also asks the question on whether or not the screen looks like a retina display. One reader made an interesting comment as well.
They said that if Photobooth is to have its own dedicated app on the Apple iPad, then that confirms that there will be two cameras. We also found an interesting article over at apenwarr.ca, which takes a look at the feasibility of a retina display being included in a new iPad.
What do you think about the possibility of two cameras and a retina display on the iPad 2?
