T-Mobile Vibrant 4G: Release Date, Specs and Gingerbread?

By Updated on

We have some good news for those of you on T-Mobile who are looking to upgrade your current handset for a new one, as it looks like a new, 4G version of the T-Mobile Vibrant smartphone will be available to buy very soon.

As reported from Phandroid, an internal document has leaked, which reveals that T-Mobile are planning to release the updated version of the Samsung Vibrant on February 23, just over a month away.

The Vibrant 4G will bring a number of changes from the original, with the main one obviously being 4G connection speeds via T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network. There will also be the addition of a front-facing camera for 4G video chats too which is nice, but you’ll get the same 4-inch AMOLED display and 5 megapixel camera seen in the classic Vibrant.

Interestingly, the document also reveals that the Vibrant 4G will come with the ‘new’ Android 2.2 OS (no joke), but this picture we saw over at BGR suggests that the device will also run Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Either way, this handset is coming soon and is another option for those of you looking ahead on T-Mobile.

What are your thoughts on the handset? – Are the new features enough for you to buy this phone or not? If the handset does ship with Android Froyo as advertised, then we predict that Samsung are going to come under heavy fire again – we’ll try and clear this up for you soon.
