We’ve already brought you a few articles about recent announcements made at the CES 2011 event, including the LG Optimus Black smartphone and the new range of Fujifilm Finepix digital cameras. However, it’s the blood pressure and baby monitors from Withings that caught my eye.
The first of the products I’d like to talk about is the iPhone-connected blood pressure monitor, which according to Luke Westaway over at crave.cnet.co.uk, comes with an armband – very similar to the ones used by your doctor – that connects to your Apple iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad.
Once your reading has been taken, the associated free application will tell you the results and chart your readings in a scalable graph. This comes in pretty handy for those of you who check your blood pressure quite regularly, as it means you will be able to see how it is from day to day.
What’s even better about the Withings Blood Pressure Monitor is the fact that it includes a feature that allows you to securely send your readings to your doctor. The other gadget that Withings introduced during the CES 2011 event is the Smart Baby Monitor, which takes baby monitoring to a whole new level.
As recently reported by Ian Morris at cnet.co.uk, the Smart Baby Monitor features full video capability, which can then be sent to Mum and Dad’s iPad, iPod Touch or iPhone. If the monitoring system detects noise, it can alert the parents with push notifications.
It even allows you to keep an eye on your baby while you’re out of the house, by using 3G. This comes in very handy if you want to make sure your babysitter isn’t ignoring your baby’s cries. You can learn more about Withings and their products via the withings.com website.
