Battlefield Bad Company 2: Vietnam Review – Must Buy for Fans

By Alan Ng - Dec 30, 2010

If you are still undecided on whether to pay the fee to download the big expansion pack for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 titled Vietnam, you may want to check out this detailed review that we have picked out for you.

The good news, is that Vietnam has been given a glowing report by the guys over at Joystiq, and to summarize their report, they think that the $12.99 for the pack is well justified.

If you didn’t know, Vietnam is available now to download for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC and consists of 5 brand new maps, 15 new weapons and 6 new vehicles to go through. Four maps are playable in the expansion straight away, these are Hill 137, Vantage Point, Phu Bai Valley and Cao Son Temple.

There’s also a fifth map on offer, a remake of Operation Hastings which will automatically be unlocked for each platform when players complete a series of team objectives and reach 69 collective team actions together.

New weapons include the M2 Flamethrower, while you’ll also be able to make use of TNT packs and the Huey helicopter, a multi-person chopper armed with rockets and machine guns.

Unlike other expansions, the best aspect of Vietnam is the fact that it offers a complete different gaming experience to the one you get playing the standard BFBC2 multi-player mode – which is what you want when you are paying $12 for it.

Bad company 2 is arguably the best game available. Yes, better than call of duty. And DICE has done nothing but prove that over and over again by tossing free updates put there all the time, which includes maps. And once again, DICE has shown that it is the king of shooters. Vietnam is a superb game. The maps are spectacular, the classes are perfectly balanced, vehicles are just as incredible as ever. Even the flamethrower, which even I was afraid was going to be either over powered or almost useless (like the flamethrower in black ops) turned out to be a brilliant addition to the game that is absolutely perfectly balanced.

  • Vietnam is awesome. Same great gameplay with some small improvements (atleast to me).

The new scenary is great and it seems to me that the sniper rifle is a bit easier to use (although I do still suck at it).

Anyway BC2 is one of the best games out there and with this add-on it is even better.
