It’s no secret that Angry Birds has been one of the most popular apps of all time, most recently we have seen a Christmas themed version as well as how it has amusingly obvious flaws. Now it has a new competitor in the app world, Infinity Blade.

We have already spoken to you a little about Infinity Blade and gave you a round up which you can view here. What we haven’t spoken to you about though is the fact that it is now the top grossing game on the iPhone. As it stands Infinity Blade is in at number 1, whilst the Angry Birds Seasons is at number 2. The original Angry Birds game is currently at number 8.

Infinity Blade from Epic Games retails on the app store for £3.49 definitely has some really cool stuff. Something that this game has that might interest a lot of gamers is a deep character customization varying from magical skills to new shields and swords.

According to appshopper.com it has “responsive and intuitive touch controls” this makes it easier to play the game where you need to dodge attacks, retaliate with your own force and cast your magical spells on the enemy.

Onto the big question, which is better, Angry Birds or Infinity Blade? In my opinion they are both good for their own reasons, Angry Birds is hugely addictive and everyone I know plays it, remember it is on the Android platform too. Infinity Blade offers something a bit different though, it really takes the iPhone spec to town with great graphics and game play. I purchased Infinity Blade. It's really good fun, but it's definitly a game for a hardcore gamer. Basically it's a grindfest, you kill a series of monsters, before finally getting killed by the God King, then you start over again, gaining xp after each battle so you finally get strong enough to take down the God King. My mother wouldn't enjoy this, but she may enjoy Angry Birds.

If you are a hardcore gamer with an iPhone 3GS/4 or a recent iPod Touch then get this game!
