Windows Phone 7: Massive Update Coming In January?

By Posted 29 Nov 2010, 22:51

The birth of the Windows Phone 7 has so far been short lived. Minor problems have hindered what could have potentially been the complete handset, but all this is about to change for the better according to ChevronWP7 developer Chris Walsh.

If we just take a step back to analyse what we mean about potentially been the complete handset, all you have to do is look at what Microsoft could have done to avoid the problems based on the omission of copy & paste, multitasking, and of course the common microSD issue.

Although Nokia can get you back up and running with the latter, Microsoft have also seen the figures for its online marketplace fall way short next to that of the Android Market. But we will let that slide for the moment as it is a brand new handset with a small user-base for the time being.

But let me reiterate, the ‘WP7 project’ is still in its early stages which could mean we are in for some huge updates in the near future – and according to Walsh of the ChevronWP7 fame, we are about to get this in January 2011.

Walsh states that a “massive” update will be ours come the new year, to which he has sources who have given him the information. He also states that the update is so big that “they (Microsoft) could have called it Windows Phone 8″ and that they (Microsoft) “took 3 months to do what Apple did in 3 years.” Check out his Twitter account for all the latest natter about the subject.

Screenshots are supposed to be on the way at somepoint today, so keep an eye out for them. We will post the news as soon as we get it.

Do you think Windows Phone 7 needs a serious update already? What would you ask for in the update?
