Create a Natural Wake Up Procedure: The Gentle Alarm 2.0 for iOS

By Gary Johnson - Nov 26, 2010

A clever application which helps people with the process of waking up, and has been getting good reviews from users, was recently updated. The Gentle Alarm 2.0 is available for owners of the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad.

Released by Craft Mobile the application will learn the user’s particular needs after a few nights. Waking to sudden abrupt alarms is associated with the release of stress hormones from the adrenal gland; this is where the Gentle Alarm works its magic. Developed by clinical neurologist Dr. Hans Joerg Stuerenburg, the app can have health benefits for user’s, such as improvement of fatigue.

Improvements in the latest version include refined alarm algorithm, consistent volume monitoring, worst case alarm, and added OK button to alarm time chooser dialog. Users just simply set the alarm by entering a wake time, and are woken slowly by being guided from deep sleep to light sleep by gentle sounds. A gentle swipe with a finger across the screen will turn the alarm off.

The Gentle Alarm 2.0 is available on the App Store for only $0.99. iOS 3.2 or later required.
