Weapons In COD Black Ops Zombies: Box vs. Wall Guns

Call of Duty: Black Ops players that have played the zombie mode will know every gun choice will have consequences, the weapons in COD Black Ops are impressive but how you spend on them matters. Will you buy from the wall or take a gamble on the weapons box?

There are some good choices on the walls in each Black Ops zombie map, and one of our favorites in the Kino der Toten map is the pump action shot gun. This gun doesn’t waste rounds, and provides great power in early levels. You could easily stick with this weapon for a few rounds until you have enough for a pack-a-punch upgrade.

The guns on the walls are still nothing compared to what’s in the box, setting you back 950 a try, you could waste a lot of money here or get a super gun not available on any wall. What we would like to know from our readers is your choice of wall vs. box weapons, what is your preference? Do you prefer not to take chances on the weapons box, and instead use the wall to save for pack-a-punch?

    Honestly i’m lookin at sites too see howta get past round 23 I use the mp40 for a while and hope for a light machine gun from the box than pack a punch or juggernaught.

      buy the stakeout, its a good shotgun for a few rounds and especially for the hellhounds, then go to the box and hope for a good gun and max ammo, just don't waste your ammo, i prefer pack a punching before getting jugger-nog,another good wall gun to pack a punch is the m16. The best box guns to get past round 23 is Upgraded hk21 and the upgraded commando. Try this and see what happens.

    dude i made it to 26 by myself and i got the collecter achievements and i upgraded most of the guns on the wall.the worst gun is the mp5k.

      i belive that theoverall best spot to camp in kino with 3+ people is the corner with juggy and m72 law upgraded is good for running into the teleporter and bombarding zombies from the pack a punch room and also having at least 1 person with zeus cannon/thunder gun and the others should have ray guns and lmgs or a upgraded spaz dont 4get perks either

    When you guys talk about upgrading, it's only during THE CURRENT GAME, right? It doesn't stay upgraded permanently.

      Ye if you played der riese in world at war you would know that your gun is permenatly upgraded unless you die and you lose all of your weapons

    I must suck. I play solo and have never made it past round 8 in “five” how the hell do you do it ? I’ve got as far as chasing the mad scientist around but I always end up running out of points and then amo

    Mad Scientist? I have made to round 7, highest score 10,500. My Nerves are shot, my hands shaky and I'm probably gonna need tranquilizers to continue playing. Great game but this old fart "formerly FK Baker in SOF & COD Modern Warfare, not sure if my heart will take the excitement! I dont have a clue what you are all talking about, when it comes to box weapons. Only found the Wall weapons and some weapons that show up as bonus's?

    dude ballistics knife all the way…the pack a punched ballistics knife rapes hard when paired with a bowie knife, allows you to run the fastest, and as far as i've been, its only taken 3 knife hits to kill a level 25+ round zombie…..and you look rediculously legit when killing anything…..

    Dude Pack a punched spas-12 is a death magnet. It’s spas-24!!! it ligit kills any zombie around. W/ highest damage, automatic, reloads in one clip, and fully portable (don’t forget the perks), it is the best non-invention since sliced bread!!!!!

    I think pack a punch with m16 is the awesomest gun in zombies becuz it shoots auto lazers out with epic efficency for epic pwnage im concerned everyone will think it,s just still 3 round burst it,s not [it shoots freaking lazers] so anyway words of wisdom from nolen07 bye.

      almost all of the guns shoot lasers when upgraded cuz they ran out of ideas for each one

    Its all about the thundergun / crossbow upgraded or monkeys! all of which are life-savers in the later levels. The crossbow acts like mini monkeys with 14 shots or so. With one of the aformentioned weapons you will also need a gun with a large amount of amo because you WILL run out of amo. Be prepared to lose one of your guns when u run out of amo. If i have a good gun I tend to hold out getting pack-a-punch untill I run out of amo. Juggernaut is a must have past level 8 or so and quicker reload is very useful (espeshaly with slow loading weapons), note these will be lost if you go down. I got to level 42 and find it easiest with two players. MOUSSA_1984

    i think that getting weapons from the box is a better choice i get the hk21 out of the box and i do just find about to level 20

    best thing ever happened to me in kino der toten. 4 player game. round 4. we get fire sale, so i go over to the box and get both the RPK and ray gun. i kill a zombie who drops 2X and got 5000 points in the next two rounds. however, my comrades kept getting downed, so we only got to round 16. note: i only used juggernaut and quick reload.

    my best strategy is knifing until i have 2800 points and open the 2 doors up stairs get the mp40 and sit in the corner up top, at around 8 i usually open the last 2 door and get juggy, the strategy that keeps me alive is rounding them up off the turrent. i run counter clock wise in the middle of the stage and jump off the turrent and keep doing this until i have a bunch and rack up points with the mp40. only the use telly if one of you get downed. good luck and have fun!
    P.S its bs that ps3 has to wait an extra month for the new map pack!!

    Basically do what a lot of people are saying. Only Pack a Punch after you've spent all or most of your ammo on the weapon – (you get full ammo after you pack a punch anyways, might as well get the most bang for your buck). As far as weapons go, the good / workhorse weapons of the multiplayer are the good weapons in Zombies. The M-16 is always a decent gun in multi, meaning that it will will decent to godlike in the right hands for Zombies. Always go for a gun off the wall first (at least 1) then go for crate. There's no worse feeling than having 4000 points to spend on crate and only get snipers or a China Lake. Then your left with no "money gun" and your team will hate you for you slowing them down.

    I've gone round 49, with 3 players…I don't need to mention anything about the lower levels. Once you power up, make sure u get jugga. Then activate and use telleporter at the start of each round, nade the shite out of the congregating zombies. When u Telli out, follow the path your team created at the start. But stay togther, do a military style formation, 1 leading clearing the way (the one with thunder or ray) , 2 to cover rear. Puase at strategic locations, shoot, just for a few seconds the move, so the zombies dont back track and trap u. Use traps when needed. Once on theater, use the trap there and turret if needed. I normally run loops around stage, to build up train(use expreinced player for this) Activate telli if ready, then the other 2 or 3 keep running the course. link telli on the way…get perkes as required. repeat…Also good camping spot is the fire pit room, but dont open the door leading to the alley…make sure everyone has claymores and aleast 1 player with monkeys..the player wit the thunder, protects window next to trap swictch(closest to door) other players stay on his right shoot the crap out of anything that moves..when it get hectic activate fire..poof steaks all round..OOhh set-up clays around outer perimitter…hope that helps cheers….PC player Suburashi..

    Hey guys I need help. When u buy a gun of the wall it said for example reload your bullets for so and so then upgrade your wepond 4 4500 points but it never let's me I have to go up the teleporter and upgrade there any tips!

    ive made it to level 25 on solo i never die before level 12 and i just got black ops like a week ago so im pretty amzing

    i got to round 38 on kino by using the mp40 to score some points and when things get out of hand i used the zeus cannon (thunder gun upgraded) and start setting the turrets and other traps cause bullets wont affect them muchh

    i got to level 34 with 3 people on ascension we all had a raygun packapunched and we all had the olympia packapunched the olympia is by far the best gun to packapunch because it lights the zombies on fire and on 30+ its only 2 shots 1 kill!!!! raygun doesnt even come close to tying with it raygun takes 4+ shots to kill 1 zombie on 30+ i always use the olympia now and even on level 15 without packapunch the gun is still 2 hits one kill then around level 20 you should consider packopunching.

    Highest level 56 four players 35 solo. Buy a decent gun off the wall bank some points to get juggernog by round 10 or lower if your not that good. Telporter or landers(landers kill zombies) are my escape routes I personally like ak47u off the wall or stake out.

      you have to link the teleporter. first go over and get in the teleporter. it will say press x 2 link (something else on ps3). press x and then go into the room you started out in. there will b a glowing disk-thing on the floor. go over to it and press x. NOW you can use the teleporter. you also have to do that every time you use it.

    I got to round 44 by myself on Kino Der Toten using the mp40 (no upgrade so ammo is cheap) the thundergun (upgraded) and monkeys. It's really all about using box weapons and wall weapons. If I had to choose one, i would pick box, but I wouldn't get past round like 25 without wall weapons.

    i made it to round 24,,single player…..pack a punch MP40 and as a back the mp5k(i didnt pack a punch it)… Round 1 and 2…………………………… : knife them all and let most of them out so you can repair barricades and get money,..ROUND 3 and 4……………………………… : still knife shoot and leave a crawler afterwards so you can repair again……ROUND 5 : this is very important,go to the door on top at the right and wait,if its devil dog round then open doors up to the room where u get the mp40 and camp near the door leading to the next room(tight space makes it easier to defend against them.(note: if it is not devil dog round just stay in the first room for awhile and if get almost overwhelmed open the doors leading 2 the MP40.)…………………. ROUND 6: you should open the next room leading to where the MP5k is then camp at the far end where the next door is located,open it till u cant hold off anymore,after opening the door turn on the electricity then activate the machine then link it(once you done this you can use the teleporter for the next round,this is crucial because in the room where you teleported you get 2 snipe or bomb zombies),after this go get yourself a juggernog. ………….ROUND 7:;…run to the first room and wait for the first zombie to appear and shoot it then run towards the teleporter,hold out there as long as you can if u cant teleport immediately then in the pack a punch room throw grenades into the zombies,repeat as necessary,then after you teleported back to the first room..kill as many zombies as you can then run up the stairs and all over the area. This is crucial because you need the machine to cooldown so you can activate it and link it again………………….. ROUND 8 : repeat steps in round 7 the only difference here is you get to pack a punch your MP40 now (i usually do it at Round 9). …………..ROUND 10: hellhounds,best area to defend is any tight spaces or single entrances you can find. …………………………..Round 11-16: repeat process (always rmmber to leave a crawler or a single zobie at the end of the round so youll have time to activate the teleporter) ROUND 17-25 repeat the steps in round 7,the only difference is when the teleporter teleported you back the first room run to door that leads outside an d basically youd be running all over the place,lobbing grenades along the way,planting claympores and activating machine guns when needed 2.

    SIDE NOTES : dont pack a punch your mp5k because it is cheaper to get ammo(500) for non pack a punch weapons. use mp5k as a secondary,but make sure you get speed cola for this. Goodluck and enjoy.

    well guns off the wall are good but you'd never know if youll get a crappy gun from the mystery box, black ops has hated me recently i get crappy guns like the cz75 single wield or the spectre or the china lake wich sucks cause i only make it to round 12 cause i had crappy guns, oh and never buy the olympia it just sucks.

    hey luke u always have 2 link the teleporter always its 1 of the only chances of survival the others are any wonder weapon or good gun and perks juggernog and speed cola.
