By Gary Johnson - Nov 17, 2010

Would you like your Android or iOS device to let you work on actual documents of the Office type? Now you can as Google Docs is coming to the iPhone, iPod Touch, iPod, and Android devices.

Michael Muchmore of PCMag is reporting that to begin with only spreadsheets and word-processing documents will have the editing capability, presentations will follow later on. Before now when Google Docs were viewed in Android and iPad browsers, viewing of Word documents and some editing of spreadsheet cells was only possible.

The news was announced via the Google Docs blog and the new capability will become available “in the next few days…to English users around the world on Android with Froyo (version 2.2) and on iOS devices (version 3.0+) including the iPad.” Support for other languages will be available soon.

To have a go at the new document-editing capability yourself on your device, use your mobile’s browser and go to docs.google.com.
