Google Doodle: Robert Louis Stevenson’s 160th Birthday

By Updated on

The social networking community was not happy with the fact that Google did not celebrate Veterans Day (Remembrance Day) with a decent Doodle on their homepage. So you can imagine how angry they will be when they see the Robert Louis Stevenson one.

We do not want to take anything away from the guy, as he was a genius of his time. Google is celebrating Stevenson’s 160th birthday, for those who do not know he was a Scottish novelist, essayist, travel writer and poet.

He has written some of the most loved books, such as Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde and Treasure Island. I am certain that at one time or another you have read that last book, or seen a movie adaption of it?

The Google Doodle on the homepage shows a pirate, a ship and some treasure, all of which has been inset on a treasure map. Some nice work has gone into this Doodle, just wish they did the same on November 11th.

What do you think of today’s Google Doodle?

As a Vietnam veteran, I am shocked by Google's lack of patriotism on November 11th! Also, as an educator for 40+ years, although a Chemistry professor, R. L. Stevenson would rank very low on the importance of people in the development of the USA.
