Tomorrow we shall be posting an in-depth article looking into all of Kinect’s internal hardware, however I recently came across some information which suggests that its sound gathering capabilities may be extremely advanced.
Inside of Kinect there are four downward-facing microphones, three on the right side and one on the left, for optimal recognition you must calibrate Kinect in the room that it is used in, if you change the room layout or move Kinect you must recalibrate it.
The fact that there are four microphones and calibration capabilities suggests that the voice commands may be far more advanced than we ever thought, perhaps Kinect will be able to recognize different voice commands from different gamers, this is not mentioned on the official Kinect website, therefore we will have to wait and see.
Do you think that the ability to differentiate between different gamer’s voices would make Kinect more desirable?
