Gran Turismo 6 (GT6): PS3 Release not PlayStation 4?

We have some interesting news to bring you now, as it has been reported that Polyphony Digital boss Kazunori Yamauchi has stated that development work on Gran Turismo 6 has already started.

Gran Turismo 5 has still not got it’s foot out of the door yet, but a PS3 release might finally happen at the end of this month, if latest reports are to be believed.

However, it is pretty crazy to think that work has already started on it’s successor, Gran Turismo 6. Does that also inadvertently confirm that the title will be a PS3 release and not one of the launch titles for the PlayStation 4? We’re almost a bit disappointed that GT6 may be on the PS3 – what about you?

Yamauchi himself didn’t want to talk too much about GT6 given the current issues with GT5, but we’d love to know if he has any secret information on Sony’s next generation console. You can get a translation of his interview over at VG247, you’ll clearly see him answer ‘yeah’, when asked if work had already started on GT6.

What are your thoughts on this? Are you as surprised as we are that Gran Turismo 6 may release on the current PS3 hardware, rather than start up fresh on PS4 tech? Hopefully we won’t have to wait another 5 years for it to happen too.

Well The PS3 clearly has at least another 7 years of life in it, with current titles still barely scratching the surface of what it can achieve. The PS3 is a slow-burner like the PS2 was, where even 8-9 years in games were still seeing significant advances.

So yes, seeing a GT6 in another 4 years so so would be great news and a shot in the arm for the PS3 later in it's life.

Lets not forget ALL GT releases turn up 4-5 years into consoles lifespan, they have never been launch titles. The problem is, there are too many cry baby console owners than want everthing yesterday. They are also the first to cry when things are not as good as they wanted…

  I disagree the existing Consoles don't have a lifetime of 7 years from now there's just no way. Sony and MS are rightly waiting to see what happens with cloud gaming, but 7 years is such a long time that if you don't see cloud games render the whole idea of consoles obsolete you will see phones that outperform the present consoles in hardware based games (and they will be free on contract).

  Of course there’s plenty of years left in the PS3. The PS2 is still selling well enough. and it’s how old?
  
  It’s not the age of the platform, it’s the quality of the games. Look at Sega re-releasing Crazy Taxi for PS3/360, plus a whole pack of classic sega games due for re-release.

Well yeah, but they said that GT5 would be on PS2. Then it became a release title for the PS3. Now look where we are.

They need to get more cars for GT6 and not do repeats of the same car such as the Nissan skyline. They need different cars such as Koensegg and GMC and even Kia. Also put in the new cars such as the Chevrolet Volt and Cruze and the Tesla Roadster. Thx plz plz correct this. Thx again

  Add all the cars in the world in regular dealership and put the dealerships how they are in gt5 by country then make and model alphabetically. P.S. the used cars graphics in gt5 are crap. Thx
  
  Ex: 1: click regular dealership icon (P.S. Every thing from #2 to #5 is listed alphabetically except for #6 which is listed by year)
  2: Click car, van, truck, SUV, or crossover
  3: when your in click Italy
  4: List of Italian cars
  5: Choose car such as Ferrari
  6: Then choose make Enzo
  7: Then choose year 1967
  Then your done and you don't have to have the used car dealership!!!!!

1: I think they should get rid of the used car dealership and put all the cars in the regular dealership both old and new vehicles.
2: Also in gt6 they should incorporate the trucks, SUV's and vans with the cars in the dealership. It would be much easier to get the cars and not buy the same car over and over again like you would do in the used car dealership. Thx

Proper drifting, Realistic car sounds turbo/supercharger wind up, blow off valves etc. Add a clutch feature on the joy stick.
