After having a good few weeks to get used to the new features of Apple’s latest iteration to their Apple TV media box, what are your thoughts on it? Are you happy with the product, or do you feel that Apple missed a trick with a few features that should of been included?
Current owners will probably be satisfied with the new speedy Apple A4 ARM Cortex-A8 processor and PowerVR SGX535 graphics, but do you think that these particular areas need an upgrade for the 3rd generation Apple TV?
The biggest request which you’ll probably agree with, is the ability to output content in 1080p. This was a feature which was in demand since the original Apple TV and we know a lot of you were disappointed that this feature still didn’t happen for the 2G model.
Also, you may be frustrated with the actual lack of content available on Apple TV, as at the moment, TV content is only limited to select number of partners, including the likes of ABC, BBC, Disney and Fox. We’d definitely like to see more variety in content and fresh partners added for Apple TV 3.
While some of you may be satisfied watching video content in M4V, MP4, or MOV on Apple TV, the most popular formats are still AVI and DivX, but the chances of Apple adding support for these are pretty slim, given their strict rules and regulations. Adding support for an SD card slot would be greatly appreciated as well – do you agree?
What new features would you like to see in the next hardware version of Apple TV?
