To say it has been a good year for Google Android would be an understatement, in fact recent figures revealed by Canalys showing Android smartphone sales year-on-year are so impressive that they are almost hard to believe.
According to Canalys Android-based smartphone sales are up 1,309% year-on-year, apparently in the third quarter of this year Android devices made up 43.6% of all U.S. smartphone sales whilst Apple’s iPhone made up 17% of the market and RIM devices made up for just 15%.
Canalys suggest that during Q3 2009 just 1.4 million Android smartphones were sold worldwide, however this year this figure has grown to well over 20 million.
It will be interesting to see these figures next year, I predict that Android smartphone sales will continue to grow rapidly despite Windows Phone 7 and Apple iOS piling on the pressure.
Do you think Google Android will continue to grow?
