New MacBook Air: iPad-like Experience

The new MacBook Air is now just over a week old, and there have already been countless reviews about the new Apple device. However, an article on WSJ states that it is more like the iPad than we first thought. The main reason for this is because of its instant on feature – something that iPad owners have come to love.

The new 2010 MacBook Air is able to use this feature because of improvements to its battery – we all know that the older model drains its battery when you just shut the lid. For years we have wanted a laptop that offered instant on and was light enough to carry around, so how come Apple were the first?

The new Air comes in two sizes, 11.6-inch and 13.3-inch, and the first thing that you will notice is just how expensive it is to a Windows laptop and the iPad. The smaller model is just under two-inches larger than the iPad, but is just as light and easy to carry around.

The main difference with the iPad and the MacBook Air is how the former has access to thousands of apps via the iTunes. However, Steve Jobs announced that there is to be an “app store” for the Mac coming soon – so there is an iPad-like experience after all.
