New MacBook Air: USB 3.0 256GB SSD Upgrade

By Peter Chubb - Oct 27, 2010

When we first learned of the new MacBook Air there were a few surprises in store for us; the first was that there was not only an update to the 13.3-inch model, but also a new 11.6-inch model as well. However, the news that the standard models would only come with a 64GB SSD was certainly a shock.

The problem here is that upgrading with Apple can be expensive, its not as if it is an easy process to upgrade like it is on a standard laptop. However, PhotoFast has a solution with a new Air USB 3 Adapter. The USB 3.0 flash drive comes with a 256GB module.

It is said that it is an easy process to transfer all your files to this new device, and once you have done so you will see a speed boost of at least 30 percent. Sean Hollister from Engadget was unable to get any details on a release date or price, but we will keep you informed.

Remember, this is only an option for the 11.6-inch MacBook Air and not the 13.3-inch. This looks to be the ultimate spare SSD portable storage solution.

How much are you prepared to pay for this new device?

200 dollar would be the absolute max for me. otherwise 64Gb will be more than enough.
