Logitech Revue: Remote Control App Now On Android Market

By Updated on

If you have snapped up yourself one of those Logitech Revue‘s for Google TV, and have been ‘umming and ahhing’ about the keyboard/remote that comes with it, you can put it straight back into the box because you can now download an Android app that transforms your phone into a remote control.

I bet that quite a few of you were quite shocked with the bulky remote that it comes with, and possibly have been looking for different accessories to make your life a little simpler.

This is where the app comes in. It does everything the remote does, and then some. But what extra features does it come with?

With this app you can use the voice search function. You do this by pressing one button and say what you want to watch. The app will then pass this to your Revue and search for what you commanded it to search for.

Another exciting feature is that you can send videos to watch on your TV from your phone. For instance, if you are watching a video on YouTube, you could send it to your Revue via the Harmony Link, even if it is turned off. The app would automatically turn on your TV and Revue, so all you have to do is fire up Google TV and watch your selected video. Neat huh?

We are told that an iOS application is also in the works, but we have no further information to give you on that yet.

Have you tried the app yet? How is it working out for you?

Oh my gosh, I should have read the manual. Oh, right, apps don’t come with manuals. I’m so excited to try the voice activation, especially that I don’t have a southern accent to make it more difficult to use. I like that I can use my DISH Network employee receiver through my iPhone AND just talk into my blue tooth headset. Rock on!
