Probably one of the most important extentions currently available, especially to Facebook users who don’t like all their personal data passed around numerous third-party websites, Facebook Disconnect counters Facebook Connect to make sure everything you do on Facebook, stays on Facebook.
Let me put it in more simple terms. If you were to surf Huffington Post, your favourite band-page or even a favourite music page, they all seem to want you to log in to Facebook via Facebook Connect. 99% of the time you are already logged in, so anything you do on that website will be logged by Facebook, and maybe even appear on your wall.
With that in mind, a Google employee going by the name of Brian Kennish has invented an app called Facebook Disconnect that will prevent sending any data back to Facebook while surfing the web. From the websites I have checked it out on, including our own and the source, it seems to work fine.
Are you worried about your privacy settings with Facebook Connect and the rest of the web? Thought about deleting your Facebook because of it? Give this extension a try for Google Chrome, and let us know what you think.
