Angry Birds for Android: User Reviews after Release

By Posted 18 Oct 2010, 09:30

It has been a few days since the hugely popular Angry Birds mobile game made it’s debut on Android. After having a chance to play through the game, what are your thoughts on it so far?

The release of Angry Birds on Android is particularly special for those who didn’t get to play it on the iPhone. The game’s release proved to be even too popular for GetJar’s servers to handle, as they went down shortly after the app went live on the Android Market.

For a game which is free to download (ad supported), it really is a win win situation if you have an Android handset. Angry Birds features 150 levels and is perfect for killing time when travelling to work each morning.

The only issue with the game that we can see, is that there isn’t a feature to upload your high scores online. Other than that though, you’ll find that Angry Birds on the Android is very addictive.

You can check out a full here courtesy of Pocket-Gamer. We’d be more interested to hear your reviews on the game though. Are you hooked on Angry Birds yet?

It drains my battery and makes my phone hot after only a few minutes of play. What is it doing in the background??

I have played this type of game before, usually in the form of "crush the castle" where you're throwing rocks at "buildings" containing the king, queen and some number of soldiers. While fun those versions lacked any story, were very coarse and had relatively few levels.

Angry birds brings to the table a story played out in pictures. The story itself is hokey. My girlfriend kept asking me "why are the pigs taking the eggs?" I mean, come on, PIGS? But after playing the first 20 levels as she looked on I mentioned I'd finish another level or two and then put it down. She told me not to and that she enjoyed watching me play the game.

For a mobile game the graphics are top rate, the sounds are humorous but tend to wear on you after hearing the birds cackle for the 30th time… The story… hokey but it's a hokey type of game. Some levels feel impossible but ultimately I finished them almost by accident.

Putting the full version only on getjar was a bad move. The less tech savvy just can't figure out how to download it… therefore…tonight I'll be downloading Angry Birds to my girlfriends phone…something she could easily do on the standard marketplace.

Played on : HTC Evo 4G
    Pros: Fun fun fun
    Cons: getjar only

    Rating: 8.5 / 10

Fun game, downloaded it without ever knowing it was such a big success on the iphone.

Impressed with the graphics and physics of the game.

Addictive, fun to pick up and play during the adverts and such etc…..

Get really annoyed at the pigs grinning at me when I've failed a level! lol

Seriously its an Good game, but I dont see where all the hype is coming from. Nice graphics and a plus for being free, but I must be missing something because it aint all that great.

Good quality app. We need more apps like these in the Android market. As for the game and gameplay itself, it isn't really anything special. Choose angle power and shoot at blocks. Not that spectacular and I don't see myself playing this game for so long, but the quality of the app is what really shines. Great graphics, smooth interface, nice sounds. If only all good game ideas could be made with this level of quality.
