Xbox 360 vs PlayStation 3: 10 Upcoming Exclusive Xbox 360 Titles

By Updated on

Yesterday, we touched on ten exclusive upcoming titles for the PS3 gamers to get excited about. Today we cover the bases and inform you of 10 upcoming titles on the Xbox 360 to get excited about.

Xbox 360 Exclusives – Probably one of the most recognisable titles for the 360 — Fable is to get it’s third installement from Peter Molyneux and Lionhead. After two moderately successful games before it, this one really needs to up the anti if it is to get any sort of praise as the last two have not delivered entirely what was promised.

On to some more big hitters now, and that is definitely the case when I mention Gears of War 3 and Mass Effect 3. Not much is known about these two titles, especially Mass Effect as it has not even been announced yet. But its sure to be a ‘timed exclusive’ rather than a fully fledged one. Gears of War 3 on the other hand gets 10 notches. I’m sure 2011 will be full of Gears of War 3 fever.

Coming from the guys who made Crysis, comes Project Kingdoms. Crytek seem to be putting a lot of work into this one, and although we are judging this on the look of the trailer, you just have to think back to how awesome Crysis was to know Crytek will be doing something special with this.

Along with hardcore controller games comes the exciting alternative of Microsoft Kinect. With it, Microsoft intend to show off what it is all about with two titles, Forza Kinect and Kinect Star Wars. We have seen previews a plenty of the Forza game, and although lacking in features, it does look promising. Kinect Star Wars wowed gamers at E3 2010, lets just see if the public take to the new hand-gestured based technology.

Another Kinect exclusive, Rise of Nightmares is produced by SEGA and some have even compared it to another horror game called ‘D’ that was released in 1995. All I can say is, check out the trailer and see if it lives up to the horror genre. I’m betting that with Kinect, this game could feel very very real.

And to round-up, 3 more less commonly known titles make the Grade. XCom, Codename D and Fighters Uncaged. XCom has been doing the rounds and i’m fairly confident that most of you know what it is by now. Codename D for Kinect on the otherhand is promised to be hardcore. Although it has no form of guns, or swords, we are not quite sure how this will pan out. Fighters Uncaged will use the Kinect technology to gives players an immersive total-body combat experience that takes place on rooftops, alleyways and dirty city docks.

Mass Effect 3 won't be timed anything it's now EA and EA release multiplatforms.

Masseffect 2 is coming to PS3 soon, so expect a simultaneous launch.

  • Randall

The only actual confirmed exclusive here is Gears 3(And the Kinect rubbish, but I don't count those as actual games personally, even they are priced as such) far as I can see. Where is the first party support? So much for not abandoning the hardcore gamer in favour of Kinect.

"Coming from the guys who made Crysis, comes Project Kingdoms. Crytek seem to be putting a lot of work into this one"

What are you basing this on? Seems to me like they're putting all their effort into Crysis 2 by all accounts. This game exists as nothing more than a teaser trailer at this point.

"you just have to think back to how awesome Crysis was to know Crytek will be doing something special with this."

Or look at how mediocre Crysis 2 has turned out to realise that Crytek's next game may not turn out much better? Perhaps Crytek don't have what it takes to cut it in the console game? Judging by how inferior Crysis 2 on 360/PS3 appears next to the PC version, it's easy to see this could well be the case.

    • synsyko

keep in mind Crysis 2 still looks better than any other console game so despite looking that much better on the pc there still no competition for it graphically on consoles plus its there first console game they will learn how to optimize even more for future titles

Looking forward to gears more than any other game next year :D

  • Tim

If these are all the exclusive games that are going to be released, then XBox is in hot water. Fable III and the Kinect games are the only exclusives that are coming in the near future. Gears of War 3 is not going to be out until Fall 2011 :-( Codename Kingdoms does not have a release date yet. If what I am thinking is true, then Microsoft better prays that Kinect does well and the multiplatforms keep the console alive until Gears comes out.

For PS3, I see a lot more diversity. Its exclusives include genres of sandbox, platformer, driving simulator, vehicle combat, FPS, and action/adventure.

  • disgruntled360fan

what a bunch of **** exclusives(apart from gears. mass effect isnt exclusive). i just dont understand how microsoft can expect anyone to buy a 360 anymore when it has a severe lack of good exclusives.

  • GearHead

    Gears Fans,

OK, if we have to wait until holiday season 2011, hopefully the brains over at Epic Games will use this extra time to add even more awesome features to the game.

I just read a post about Epic releasing a GoW3 multiplayer Beta in the Spring of 2011. In fact, you can check out a short video trailer showcasing the latest multiplayer capabilities and weapons in GoW3 at:

    Peace,

A lot better than ps3, thats for sure! Its no wonder Xbox 360 is winning!

    • GordonShumway

I love my 360 as much as the next guy, but is that a joke?

For 2011, Xbox has Gears… and that is it. Sure, Kinectimals is coming, but what is there that's aimed at the hardcore fanbase? Nothing except Gears.

Unless you are looking forward to being disappointed again by the next Fable

    • Vknight

Perhaps you can advise us of why ?

Gears 3 will be awesome for sure
Mass effect 3 will be on PC and PS3.

I tried final hardware Kinect out and its absolutely rubbish for any serious gamer, lag , accuracy, range of movement is all off. Any current franchise converted or catering to Kinect will actually give you a watered down experience . Sad to see Forza going that route as I had alot of respect for that game.

I didn't like fable 2 at all plus fable 3 will be better on PC.
Kingdom should be good ,glad to see a new IP from them.

So it's Gears 3 and Kingdom that will most likely score well with critics.
      Everything else is a gamble.

My opinion is that the ps3 has a stronger lineup, with varied, established and traditional game titles ( no move titles), (Move is awesome by the way, it's keeping me away from all my other titles.)

I own both a PS3 and Xbox and a gaming PC by the way , PC and PS3 offers me by far the most intellectual and fun experience.

Lets not turn this into a competition, but I happen to own all 3 platforms as well. My opinion is that with the launch of Reach, Microsoft have established the Xbox as the choice of gamers! Xbox is the only console to make an increase in figure, where as sony wont even disclose how many units they sold! If I know one thing its that Microsoft wont be beaten and that means more sweet-ass games and soon. I just cant wait to see when Kinect is used to its full potential and blow everyone away! sony fanboys seem quick to diss Kinect but what about move? Ive played it. Its horrible!

Face it Xbox wins, has been winning and will continue to win!

  • PermanentlyAngry

Sadly there's only Gears 3 on that list which interests me. The Kinect stuff won't bother me because I'm not getting Kinect and Mass Effect 3 is so going multiplatform (probably still get it on 360 though) and I'd expect the same from X-com as well. Honestly the PS3 is starting to come into its own, its exclusive line up is very strong indeed. I'm just happy I have both. I'm sure Microsoft will have a few more games up their sleeves this year that we've yet to hear about, they better have any way because the list above looks very, very weak.

Where are the games then? IF Xbox is so great then why do you own all three platforms. I can understand owning the Wii, but Xbox and PS3 play mainly the same games. I havn't seen any exclusive that would make me want to buy an Xbox.

    • GordonShumway

      312,000 PS3 units – down ~37% year-on-year
This was expected because of high sales last year immediately after the Slim launch. It was higher than some industry analysts' predictions. Well known analyst Michael Pachter had previously estimated sales of 275,000

Xbox sales were high, as was expected with the current Slim model being relatively new, and the launch of Halo Reach. I don't really get your worship of the Xbox platform though. I won't comment on Kinect because I haven't played it yet, but its line-up suggests that it is for people who like dancing and yoga rather than people like me who like sports and shooting things. Move lets me play sports and shoot things, so I'm pleased with it as it does the job really well. If you'd played the beta of Socom 4 you'd know what I mean. The accuracy of Move controls over a standard controller is astounding.

The problem with your MS won't be beaten comments is that the games just don't seem to be coming. I really hope they rise to the challenge and make some crazy and cool new games, but Halo 4 is a single game, as is Gears 3. It really feels like MS are giving up on their AAA exclusives and concentrating on Kinect. Most "exclusive" games now are either timed exclusives or available on PC. For someone who has a PC, that doesn't mean exclusive at all.

Again, I own the other consoles, and I don't get how 360 is winning anything based on the exclusive games lists on this site. Please enlighten me

    • RoadShow

ROFLMFAO, Sony released their figurs all right. Xbox is winning IF COUNTING USA ONLY!!!

Sony has closed the gap from 8 million to only 2.9 million units sold world wide. That's with 360 having a year head start! In fact sony has outsold 360 almost every quarter since the launch of the slim back in 2009.

    • RoadShow

Move is great IMO, Kinect sucks that's a fact.

Xbox costs the most and gives the least that's a fact

Xbox is the only 1 that is pay to play

Best xbox games are on PC, better on PC (all shooters are) and are free online play the PC way, plus PC don't RROD/RDOD or scratch disks like 360

xbox live now $60/year, that's $300 every 5 years basically re-buying the most unreliable console in history every 5 years

Xbox can't stream netflix unless you pay M$ $60/year for the "right" to purchase that sub to netflix,

Xbox $299 for console with no blu ray, LOL what a SCAM

  • BigT

Xbox is going to loose the war with a game line up like this and Kinect is going to red ring every old console out there but soon the consoles will link to your cell phone PS3= Android and Xbox=Phone 7 so lets watch that war.

  • marhorn

Ok dont get me wrong, I own ps3 as well and Still play the likes of God of war and am looking foward to Gran turismo like you wouldnt believe, but the majority of AAA titles have been on the Xbox 360 (this generation). I have been a huge fan of sony right from my ps1 days, but when that original Xbox came out it sent shockwaves and eversince I have firmly beleived that Xbox is the way foward. But then you might just call me a Halo fanboy! point is I hate all this flame war and really would love if Microsoft and Sony (yes thats right i used a capital) had a joint venture, it be sort of like 2pac and Biggie!

  • marhorn

Yeah your right about last years figures, but then also to take into consideration is the fact that last years Xbox figures were doing very well as Halo odst had just been released!
Move is very accurate for what ive played and am looking forward to some cool games, but thats it has has a limit! Kinect has sooo much potential (and I know people dont like that word for Kinect) yes there will be devs that just churn out garbage where you play games like *head, shoulders, knees and toes* but give one creative mind this tool and I tell ya things will get cool! Just imagine playing a game like Resi and you walk up to a mirror or past a window you see something! You Turn back to get a look and theres an image of you staring back! Then imagine after looking for second (all the time the image is mirroring your moves) the image turns ghostly, demonic (you know) and jumps through the glass to get you!
And if theres any mech fans out there do you know that Steel battalion is being brought on for kinect!

    • GordonShumway

Kinect is an amazing device, but I can't help feeling that MS gimped it in order do score what people in marketing might call "differentiation".

You see, Kinect really needs Move, or something like it. Microsoft keep pushing this "you are the controller" nonsense because it is a great way to make Kinect look futuristic, even magical, to a parent's untrained eye. But without the internal sensors of a wand a la Wii/PS Move, Kinect just isn't able to do certain things. You can't point accurately with it, and even if you could, no-one wants to point their finger to shoot a gun. It also can not detect subtle twists in your wrists or hands, which would make a huge difference when playing a sword fighting game. If you twist your wrist 90 degrees clockwise, for example, the tip of a sword in your hand would move over a metre. Kinect's inability to sense these movements means that any sword fighting games on Kinect will lack the depth that is possible on Move, or even Wii. That's why when MS announced their exclusive Star Wars game, I was quite disappointed, as it would clearly have been better on Move. On the other hand, fitness games on Kinect will be much better than Move, because the game would be able to "see" what you are doing and provide feedback.

I hope that Kinect does get integrated properly into normal games too, as in games using the standard controller, because there's a lot of potential there. Unless they get some really cool Kinect features into games like Gears, it just isn't worth the investment for people like me. I'm personally going to wait a while before purchasing, then I can see if it really is that good, the games library will have increased in size and well know if it really is all just shovelware, and most importantly the price will have come down.

In conclusion, Kinect needs a wand, Move needs a new camera, and Wii needs a new console :)

I really don't understand any person that could honestly say that xbox 360 has a better lineup. First off the 360 launched a year earlier then ps3 so it had a head start on sales. Second, the fat xbox system was made like garbage. Cheap plastic pieces, loud fans blowing, massive power supply brick, legendary red ring problems. They nickel and dime you for everything trying to make it like they are giving you a deal for a bare bones system with nothing on it. They charge you for online gaming which is better than ps3's but really I would rather have it free. And at the top of the list NO EXCLUSIVES!!! Let's be honest….you got Gears of War, Alan Wake, Left 4 Dead, Fable, and Halo. THATS IT! You can name a few games that maybe people enjoyed but as far as solid system titles thats about as deep as it goes. And I own an 360 but this is not even an argument. PS3 has God of War, Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo, Heavy Rain, Killzone, littlebigplanet, MAG, Ratchet and Clank, Resistance, ModNation Racers, Socom, Uncharted, MLB the Show, and more that I can't think of off the top of my head. A year and a half ago a 360 fan had an argument. Now its just a fact the ps3 is better.

  • RoadShow

ME1 will not come to PS3, however ME2 is and with 6 hours of bonus single player campaign to catch up PS3 owners on ME1.

I guarentee that ME3 will be on PS3.

Xbox has no games! At least, no true exclusives other than Halo which is really old, come on 4 games in 5 years? LOL, get another exclusive will you!?

Gears is good, but I own that on PC (all shooters better on PC than ANY console) and free online play the PC way.

IMO, no need to own RROD/RDOD, pay to play, no browser, disk scratching, overheating, limited expensive hard drive, POS 360. Again.. IMO
