Apple Trademarks Tagline ‘There’s An App For That’ At Last

Apple is no stranger to trademark issues, but the idea that they wanted to trademark their slogan “There’s an app for that” is certainly more lighthearted than some of the others. Most of you will know that this is the tagline used in the Apple commercials for their App Store and devices such as the iPhone, iPod and the iPad.
The phrase has certainly caught on, and has seen a range of parodies over the slogan. There is not a week that goes by without someone coming out with something new, with some of them being a bit on the rude side.
Dave Caolo from TUAW learned via Trademarkia that Apple applied for the “There’s an app for that” trademark back on December 4, 2009. Not sure why anyone would want to trademark such a saying, but we all know how Apple likes to protect anything they have come up with.
What do you think of this, is it one trademark too far? What is your favorite “There’s an app for that” joke?
