Audi have announced that it will be fitting its top spec S tronic transmission system to their range topping TT RS. The addition of this state-of-the-art seven-speed dual-clutch transmission is said to provide the ultimate driving experience.
S tronic gives super-fast slick gear-changes within a few hundredths of a second, with no dip in the flow of power. Designed to give the optimum efficiency no matter what gear you are in, selecting seventh gear at motorway speeds, the engine revs are reduced to enable better fuel consumption.
Two fully automatic shift modes are available with a third manual mode which uses either flappy paddles on the steering wheel or the more conventional selector lever. To aid in the traffic light GP’s the gearbox has a launch control feature which supply’s perfect acceleration from a standing start. Using the launch control enables the TT RS to hit 62mph in just 4.3 seconds.
Could this be Audi’s ultimate driving car? Well with the S tronic system mated to the award winning 2.5-litre five-cylinder turbo-charged TFSI powerplant. The quattro all-wheel-drive working with Audi’s performance chassis, this could be the car to take that crown.
