Palm Pre 2: Release Date Update – Europe First?

By Alan Ng - Oct 7, 2010

We have some good news for fans of the Palm Pre, as we have yet more hints to suggest that a release of a successor, the Palm Pre 2 is coming sooner rather than later, but perhaps not to US shores first.

According to this report from Engadget, the device has been spotted on the FCC website, which suggests that the Palm Pre 2 is landing on the European market soon.

You may think this is slightly odd since the FCC only deal with handset releases in America, but Engadget point out that the P102UEU model listed on the website is just making preparations for a UMTS 3G-compatible version for Europe.

Does this FCC listing mean that the Palm Pre 2 is headed to Europe first, or will the US get it first just like the original Pre? Either way, we’ll keep you updated on this. In the meantime, let us know your thoughts on this.

I love my Pre, and I am cautiously optimistic about the Pre2. With Palm's move over to HP, I only hope that the same amount of quality and effort will be put into the new machines. The webOS platform is definitely the future if it can survive.
