New iPhone 5: Your Design Ideas?

By Updated on

Some of you might be thinking that the recent article by the WSJ on the Verizon iPhone’s release in early 2011 was the biggest news of today, but we think otherwise. We have also heard that the new iPhone 5 is coming, but with a different form factor.

We briefly told you about this in our previous report here, but now we want to get your ideas on board. Firstly, have another read of this quote from the Wall Street Journal to refresh your memory:

”Separately, Apple is also developing a new iPhone model, said people briefed on the phone. One person familiar said the fifth-generation iPhone would be a different form factor than those that are currently available”

To put that in simpler terms, Apple are thinking of altering the iPhone 4 design for the iPhone 5. However, If Apple are seriously thinking about changing the current and winning formula of the iPhone 4, then they are definitely going to have to come up with something good.

We don’t have any doubts that they won’t though, since we’re sure Apple know what they are doing, but what could they possibly do to make the design any better? Well the location of the antenna is a good starting point, and as long as it has that slick Apple feel to it, we’re sure it will be a hit with consumers.

Do you have any ideas on the iPhone 5 design already? Slide-out QWERTY? Dual-display screens? A clam-shell design? The possibilities are endless.

Let’s hear your best ones and we’ll post them on the website if we get some really good ones.

Wow, not a single comment yet? I think it'd be nice if the next iPhone supported Flash. I read this on flash on the iPhone and it doesn't seem to cut it. [ http://variableghz.com/2010/09/flash-videogames-o... ]. Even if it's just a setting that I can flip, it would be nice to have the *option* rather than having Apple decide it for me.

How about tethering support for an iPad? My old Windows phone does it very nicely, and I like my mobile service provider data plan prices.

Two words: "Brain Implant." Think of it. No off switch, runs off bioelectric energy. Customers are tracked 24/7, the better to serve their every need. Every thought is digitized, recorded, processed, and fed back, so we are all free of the annoying task of making our own decisions. Nirvana! Oh, yeah, the iPhone 5 imPlant comes with an Apple tattoo, right in the middle of the forehead. Gotta love it….

5 Points of Innovation for iPhone5…

    1. It will be better branded…and known as 'iPhone Hi-5'. with 5G Technology.

    2. 'Drop-proof edge'. Suppose the moment it drops on the land/ surface it will be protected by a special rubber edge.

    3. Faster Start-up with Voice Recognition & Biometric system

    4. Dual SIM Cards Facility

    5. 'Power-Push' Technology- Can be re-charge even without a plug. Or Re-Charging facility with Blue-tooth technology.

I think it would be awesome for the iPhone 4 to have:

a dual display which would be very handy for taking rear pictures of people ..

Having a 5mp camera and flash for the front and a 10mp or higher with dual flash for the rear

and maybe flash if it doesn’t drain the battery

.. Camera with 1080p hd video recording with editing software… Face tagging in photo album .. Voice activation for example unlocking the iPhone or to open programs .. Voice to text .. Satellite navigation with turn by turn directions Bluetooth for file sharing … Maybe a better screen or maybe larger or smaller screens

I am 15 years old, this is my opinion on what features the iPhone 5 should have:

    1. 1080p 30fps main camera (with option for 720p shooting)

    2. Biometric System on the back where you hold it. For unlocking phone and instead of using passwords for different things

    3. Slightly bigger screen (maybe the same size as the samsung galaxy S)

    4. 4G or 5G technology for faster and more reliable signal

    5. Maybe a 3D camera (a duel camera system to take 3D photos and videos)

    6. 3D screen which does not require 3D glasses :)

    7. Face recognition to unlock and instead of passwords.

    8. More colour phones to choose from:
    - Black

    -White

    -Mirrored (like the iPod)

-Red (maybe a limited edition version)

    -Yellow

    -Sky Blue

Please if anyone works for apple and your reading this, consider these ideas.

It should be able to connect to the radio like some of the mp3 players also protective other edge so it doesnt break when dropped

  • Tim

It is going to be the futurama eyePhone!

  • psycho9000

I won't think it'll be called iphone 5.. maybe they'll just update a few things (like the camera, etc) and add a 4G network to it and call it iphone4G.. just like they did with the 3Gs

How about an iPhone that can run the Android OS, like Macs can run Windows? :-)

    • ME!

      NEVER! :D

    - dual-core 1.4Ghz (ARM architecture) processor
    - graphic chip: something even more powerful than Samsung Galaxy S has now
    - 128 GB memory
    - at least 4'' display with 1280 x 768 px
    - it should be as thin as iPod
    - Facetime via 3G (I know operators will hate this, but they can charge people for using internet not for calling)
If it will have at least 90% of my demands, I will buy the new iPhone!

  • zoe

    compatible with flash player please!!

  • Menno

    Dual SIM functionality !
As soon as this is available on the Iphone, I will be getting one !

  • Bill J

    Dual screen front and back.

  • Varun C

Larger screen please. And a better text input system(which can rival bb's physical qwerty keyboard)

  • Keli

As I work in th healthcare field, it would be nice to be able to see at least one emergency contact when you have your phone locked with a password. When you open an iPhone, any smart phone, to the screen where it asks for your password, it would be nice to be able to push a bottom that says emergency contact, or I.C.E. (in case of emergency). There is a button that allows you to make emergency call to 911, but you aren’t able to get to this persons info to call a loved one! I work in the ER and it’s very frustrating when someone is critical or dying and you can’t call someone that loves them!

I have a lot of wishes concerning this topic, but mostly preferred are:

    1. Option to support flash in Settings menu
    2. Thinner and lighter design ( no loose of specs)
    3. If you look at the iphone, the screen surface is about 80% of the total phone surface. The edges on the top and bottom are very wide, also on both sides the screen can become wider, or the phone smaller.
4 media server functionality ( play content on the iphone which is stored on the timecapsule or other NAS. )
5 hdmi 1.3a or higher output connection.

I am 14 years old and this is what i think the next iPhone should have
    1. Aluminium uni – body design (Like the macbooks)
    2. Exactly what keli said: a button on the lock screen where you can save 1 contact in case of emergencies.
    3. Support flash or at least an option of having it.
    4. Better camera, something like a sony 8mp camera maybe?
    5. Much more customizable lock screen and home screen
