This means that anyone with a compliant device can enjoy free Skype-to-Skype calls, however you will have to be connected to the internet via WiFi to make or receive these calls.
The app syncs with your phonebook contacts to show you which of your friends use Skype and which of your friends are currently online, if any of your friends are online and you are connected to a WiFi hotspot you can phone them free-of-charge.
One further thing to tell you about the app is that once installed the service runs 24/7 in the background, task managing applications won’t be able to cancel the app, in fact it looks as if you will have to uninstall Skype if you want it to stop.
Now that the app has been rolled-out I’m sure that developers will be doing their utmost to add more smartphones to the list of compatible devices, as we hear of any developments we will keep you posted.
We would love to hear if you got Skype working on your Android smartphone, so give it a go and come back to let us know whether it worked for you.
