2011 Dodge Charger: First Pictures And Specs

After waiting for the 2011 Dodge Charger for sometime now, we can finally see the first complete pictures of the newest model to wear the iconic title. We were tempted by what seemed like an endless supply of teasing spy shots but our wait is now over.

With inspiration from the 1968-1970 muscle car, the rear styling mimics the old model’s full-width tail lamps. This large rear cluster is lit up with 164 LEDs to leave followers in no doubt when it comes to braking. As for it’s front the restyle seems to have followed the previous model, although with a larger grille assembly that juts out purposely from the front bumper. Unfortunately the classic models hidden headlamps are not a feature on the 2011, much to my own disappointment.

When it comes to the business side of things, under the hood will lie the 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 along with the option of the mighty 5.7-litre V8 Hemi unit. Unlike the classic muscle car, the R/T version will be available in all-wheel drive with the ability to disconnect the front axle when it is not needed, transforming the car into rear-wheel drive. Without the constant drive to the front this should help with the fuel economy.

Chrysler confirms that the Canada-built 2011 Charger should be ready to roll before the end of the year. So why don’t you check out the pictures on Autoblog and read the official press release.
