Nintendo and Retro Studios have announced that Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong will be returning to our video game screens with ‘Donkey Kong Returns.’ The Nintendo Wii exclusive offers the same pleasurable side-scrolling experience as the original together with a host of new features, modern graphics and full 3D environments.
Donkey Kong and his sidekick Diddy’s aim is to rescue the ever precious banana horde from a vast array of enemies.
To do this, you will use the favourable barrel cannons and mine carts together with the new feature that lets Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong play simultaneously, whether it be in co-op mode or not.
Diddy can also hop on Donkey’s back for those more challenging parts, whereas both have new abilities that can be activated by performing selective gestures using the Wii remote.
There are also new hidden treasures in each level, and a special side-game that players can optionally complete whilst playing the game. Those of you who are familiar with the previous games will remember the secret areas which were always a bonus, but now players can also find and spell out K-O-N-G for extra special prizes.
Donkey Kong Country Returns will be released in Europe on December 3, 2010 — just in time for a little bit of Christmas nostalgia.
Excited? Will you be purchasing Donkey Kong Country Returns?
