RIM on BlackBerry BlackPad: Not iPad or Android tablet rival

By Updated on

Speculation continues to grow about the rumored tablet device from RIM, which many believe to be called the BlackPad. Only yesterday we reported that Research In Motion could unveil the device as early as next week, and that it will not be a rival to the Apple iPad or even Android tablet devices.

The reason why, is because the BlackPad – if that is what it will be called – is to be aimed at enterprise users, while the iPad and the range of upcoming Android tablet devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab is more for the consumer market.

According to an article written by Clint Boulton from eWeek, more than 2.5 million BlackPad tablet devices have been ordered for the fourth quarter of 2010, that’s what analysts believe.

We are not too certain how well RIM will be able to perform in either the consumer or enterprise market? Yes they have to have a tablet device of their own like Nokia and Motorola, but they need to make certain that they get it right. We don know that the tablet will come with a 9.7-inch display, let us hope that RIM does not use SurePress technology – that will be one loud click. All jokes aside, the BlackPad has to be a success, Research In Motion cannot keep releasing products that do not sell as much as their rivals.

Do you think that the BlackPad will be a success?
