iPhone 4 Alternative: Nokia N8 Release May Be October

By Updated on

Those of you who are waiting to get hold of Nokia’s new N8 smartphone, might have to wait until October before you will able to have the device. Before it was thought that the device would start shipping in late September in the US and UK.

Nokia have recently said they still had some work to do on the N8 and have decided to delay shipments for a few weeks. They sent an email to the Wall Street Journal and stated “To ensure a great user experience, we have decided to hold the shipments for a few weeks to do some final amends.”

Now after getting loads of confused queries Nokia have posted on the company blog to try and make things clearer. “There have been [some stories] about the N8 availability which we feel need clarification.” “As we have previously said, we still expect to start the shipments by the end of the third quarter. As with every global launch, when the device reaches the hand of the customer will vary by market and operator.”

They went on to say that they are aiming for preorder customers to start receiving the N8 by the end of September, but due to the high demand they have advised people to expect delivery in October.

It remains to be seen if the new device can compete with the iPhone or devices running the Google Android OS, with many saying the Symbian OS is too sluggish. Have you preordered the Nokia N8?

Nokia always ruin its product by announcing too early & delay delivery

  • Praveen

Its correct, Nokia is lacking the basic marketing strategy. It will surely loose out.

I've just spoken to Nokia reguarding my pre-order.

"Expect delivery sometime at the end of October.."

This phone better be worth the wait!

    Why would you buy this???
    It's already an outdated system.

I can't wait to buy this phone. I will admit that I'm a little turned off by the fact that the hype has been out there for a while but still no phone, but I definitely wouldn't spend this kinda coin on an…..LOL…APPLE.

Sad that the masses can't break free from this hold Apple has on them and think for themselves. The iPhone is a nice phone, don't get me wrong…but it's lacking in some areas. The resolution though is quite impressive; but that alone is not enough for me to shell out my hard earned green for that phone.

Anyways…NOKIA….pull your head out of the sand and look at what's going on around you! Time to fix the bugs and get this out ASAP!!!!
