iPhone iOS 4.2: Jailbreak and Unlock 3GS – PwnageTool Guide

While iPhone 4 owners currently sit and wait patiently for their unlock method, we have some good news for those of you with an iPhone 3GS who have updated to the iOS 4.2 beta for developers.

As reported from RedmondPie, you’ll be pleased to know that a full jailbreak and unlock method has been confirmed for iOS 4.2, but sadly only for iPhone 3GS users at the moment.

If you would like to try this out, you can jailbreak your handset using the old bootrom along with PwnageTool, and then unlock it afterwards using UltraSn0w. As usual, RedmondPie has compiled the easy to follow guidelines up on their website, along with some useful screenshots in case you get stuck at a particular stage.

If all goes well, you should have a jailbroken iPhone 3GS running iOS 4.2. For those waiting for the GreenPois0n release, it should be available very soon.

    Here we go again. Actually, this is just a SDK version. Who knows who, what would happen if you do it in your 3GS. Hence, it was proven that all iOS version cripples iDevices without any A4 chip — So I wouldn't recommend this JB lower than iPhone 4 model. iOS 4.2 Latest Must-Have Updates

    Yup sounds to good to be true, maybe just a bluff by the dev team to see how much money apple can give them. Nothing like this should be done for free. But I will wait like everyone else for it to jailbreak my iPod touch 4.and I found a free ipod video converter for Aneesoft.Complete free!!!really…

    Greenpois0n doesn't work right. Baseband 5.14.02 is still the problem. Why upgrade to 4.2 if the phone will still be locked!!!!

    I have been trying greenpois0n all day it does nothing the screen just stays on try again, this is in the tethered mode, I have 3g with 4.2
