General Motors: OnStar Relaunch To Challenge Ford Sync

By Updated on

General Motors have plans to push forward with its blue button OnStar system in order to claw back some sales from its rival Ford’s Sync. Next year will see GM giving access to Pandora online radio and WiFi, through the in-car system.

Up until now Ford’s Sync has taken hold of the market and GM are fully aware of this. Executive director Micky Bly says “You can argue that we haven’t marketed it, we haven’t advertised it, we haven’t communicated it,” “That communication starts today.”

OnStar also hopes to offer a safe to use voice-activated Facebook, texting, e-mail and MP3 player control system in the near future. Top men at GM have said that they hope through OnStar’s built-in phone module their system will stand out compared to the phone-based Sync.
