Porsche 911 Carrera GTS: Last Of The 997 Range

By Daniel Chubb - Sep 15, 2010

Porsche have pulled the covers off its latest addition to the 997 range. Tipped to be the most powerful and best handling yet, the 911 Carrera GTS is due to go on sale in the UK this December.

With it’s official debut at The Paris Motor Show in just a few weeks time, the Carrera will be available in hard and soft top forms. This new model in the 997 range will be the last as Porsche are set to release an all-new 911 sometime in autumn 2011.

Packing an almighty 402bhp punch from it’s 3.8-litre flat six engine, the rear wheels are driven through a six speed manual or optional seven-speed PDK transmission. Top speed will be 190mph with 62mph being reached in 4.2 seconds, for the manual coupe.

To aid the rear wheel drive layout, the car has a 44mm wider track in the rear. Porsche say this is to “further enhances the chassis dynamics”. Twin dual tailpipes accompany the new design exhaust system, to give that unmistakable Porsche rasp. Sitting on 19-inch high-gloss black alloys and featuring a SportDesign front bumper, with black spoiler and matching side skirts. The Carrera is still instantly recognizable as a 911.

Porsche have labelled the Carrera GTS coupe at £76,758, whilst the cabriolet will hit £83.493. Lets just enjoy the last of the 997 range and look towards the future for the 2011 replacement. Hit the link below for more pictures and info.
