We have the news of a new toy recall to report to you today. Over 1.2 million children’s toys are involved in the latest consumer product to be recalled.
An Associated Press writer on guardian.co.uk is reporting the latest recall involves Chuck E. Cheese light up rings and toy eyeglasses. The toys are being recalled because there is the risk that children may swallow the small batteries inside the toys.
According to The Consumer Product Safety Commission the plastic toys could break and expose the batteries, and if these are swallowed could result in esophagus, intestine, or stomach problems. So far two children have removed the batteries from the toys with one swallowing it, and the other putting the battery up his nose.
No injuries were reported, and no problems have been reported with the toy eyeglasses. The light up rings was part of a promotional offer between April 2009 and June of 2010, and total 1.1 million items. The 120,000 eyeglasses which are shaped like stars were part of birthday packages. The toys should be taken from children and returned for a refund of cash or prizes.
