iPod Touch Games Market: Outsells Nintendo DS & Sony PSP Combined

We do get told some interesting things from time to time, but when Steve Jobs comes out and tells an entire audience that the iPod Touch alone outsells Nintendo’s DS and Sony’s PSP combined worldwide, we were a little shocked.

According to Jobs, he says that they are the number one “games and entertainment” company (for its type), and that 1.5 billion games and apps have been downloaded to the Touch. This does not include any sales from the iPhone.

Quite incredible numbers there from Jobs, but do you really think that they outsell the PSP and the DS combined? I am a tiny bit dubious on the matter, but what do you think?

    Well, they could…PSP and DS games are $20 and up…ipod touch games are cheap. Important question is the dollar amount, not # of games sold. As usual, Steve is very good at getting his message across with no one to question him…least of all the media

    I think he is counting all the stupid low grade free stuff. Let's look at the cash and see how the systems stack up with people thinking with their wallets.

    Not a surprise at all. I have more games on my iPod than my ds. Doesn’t mean it’s better.

    Ipod touch games are alot cheaper. I have seen games for 5 dollars. They are all available via download so it is easier to obtain. Anyone from a big time development company to a teenager can make a game. This means alot of games can be released in a month compared to the ds and the psp.

    Psp and the DS have better games. They also have better input devices. I would have a tactile buttons over a touch screen anyday. Although, I have played GBA games on a ipod touch and it takes some getting used to. It was actually better then i thought,but some fighting games may not fair well.

    most sold dosent mean most turn over or better quality of games, in absolutely no way are they the" the number one games and entertainment company".

    I determine the best games company as the one with the best quality of games not volume of what is sold. Id choose Metal Gear Solid peace walker or New super mario bros any day of the week over an ipod game.
