With just over a week to go until Samsung offer more details on their Galaxy Tab device, we were shocked that KT has been showing off their Identity Tab. You can clearly see by the images on Engadget that it is a doppelganger for Samsung’s tablet device.
Jung-Ah Lee from WSJ reports that the Identity Tab is to be aimed at the domestic market and will come with a 7-inch display – the same as the Galaxy Tab and will also run Android, although not certain if this will be 2.2 Froyo.
Lee explains that the price is expected to be KRW300,000, ($253), which is certainly cheaper than the Apple iPad – the tablet device that has taken the market by storm. With the news that telecommunication companies are now jumping on the tablet bandwagon, 2011 looks to be a very different year for Apple, as they have had this market all to themselves so far in 2010.
We are not certain what spec differences there will be between the Identity Tab and the Galaxy Tab (List of accessories), but we expect the Samsung device to be more powerful with a much better display.
Will the KT Identity Tab be able to compete with the Samsung Galaxy Tab?
