With only today and tomorrow to go until the end of August 2010, we thought that we would take a look back at some of the food recalls that dominated the news. We do not have to remind you that the most troubling was the recent egg recall due to a salmonella risk.
The recall involved a number of farms, two of which were Wright County Egg and Hillandale Farms. However, you had to be aware as the eggs were sold under different brands, which you can read in more detail here.
The most recent recall was the Deli Meat Recall at Walmart, where the retail giant had to recall 380,000 pounds of meat due to fears of being contaminated with bacteria. At the time of the recall there were no reports of any illness, but symptoms would have included headaches and nausea, more information on the recall.
The final recall on our August 2010 list was Procter & Gamble’s pet food, these included their Eukanuba foods and Iams Veterinary Dry Formulas range. The recall had started earlier than August, but they had to expand the list on August 3rd, as the risk of Salmonella contamination was more serious than they had assumed.
As you can see, August was a busy month for food recalls, and these were just a handful.
