15 years ago today Microsoft launched Windows 95, this operating system was the successor to Windows 3.1, and at the time was revolutionary, especially as it utilized a 32-bit subsystem.
The minimum requirements were regarded as pretty high, you need an i368 processor with a clock speed of at least 12MHz, 4MB of RAM and 120MB of hard drive space, however it was recommend that you had an i486 processor of at least 16MHz and at least 8MB of RAM.
Love it or hate it you have to respect Windows 95, obviously regular blue screen of deaths were a nightmare, however 95 paved the way for successors such as Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.
Being its 15th anniversary we thought it would be great to reminisce Windows 95 memories, feel free to share yours in the comments section below.
I will share my first Windows 95 memory, I remember my mum and dad brought me and my sister a so called “top of the range” Windows 95 PC, it was amazing and came with a few demos such as Duke Nukem 3D, Diablo, Hexen and a few others, I remember one froze and no-one in the house had any computer knowledge, so we phoned up support and they instructed us to press the reset button (which was tiny and required a pencil of pen to press in), anyway we were under the impression that if it didn’t start-up nothing could be done and the PC was broken forever, luckily it started back up and we all gamed happily ever after, well until I deleted important Windows files trying to save space.
