iPhone 4: Apple killing off-contract deals in US?
By: Alan Ng | August 20, 2010 | 1 CommentWe have some slightly worrying news for consumers in the US now, as we are hearing reports that Apple have made a u-turn on the decision to sell their iPhone 4 off-contract in the US.
According to this report from BGR, Apple has updated the FAQ section on their website with the following question: “Can I buy an iPhone without an AT&T contract?” Their response is a ‘No’, as they state the iPhone 4 must be bought on a two-year contract with AT&T.
This is a bit strange, since the iPhone 4 is still available to buy off-contract in Mexico and Canada. It is worth noting however, that you can still pick up an iPhone 4 off-contract for the full retail price, but only from AT&T retail stores.
Do any of you have any idea why Apple has changed their mind? We’ll give you an update on this later.
