Verizon Wireless: Testing $99 Unlimited Data,Talk and Text plan

Mobile carrier Verizon Wireless is currently testing a price plan that will offer customers unlimited calls, data and texting which will cost $99 per month. The plan would be in direct competition with Sprint’s own $99 per month Simply Everything plan.

Mike Dano from Fiercewireless is reporting that the tests are currently being carried out in retail outlets in Los Angeles and San Diego, and represents a $20 saving on what Verizon currently charges for the plan. A spokeswoman from Verizon said the offering was a limited-time promotion, and was only for single lines that include calling in the company’s national footprint.

Verizon’s Nationwide Talk & Text unlimited plan currently costs $89.99 on a two year contract, but in L.A. and Sand Diego it can be had for $69.99 per month. T-Mobile USA also has an unlimited data, talk and text for $99.

These tests may not see a nationwide launch of the $99 plan, but point towards serious pricing experiments by the mobile carrier. The costs of monthly price plans have come down in recent months, with Verizon knocking $30 off its unlimited talking plan to $69.99 per month.
