Android 4.0 Honeycomb: What about Gingerbread Update?

By Posted 19 Aug 2010, 16:56

We have some interesting details for Android users now, as it has been rumored that Google’s next software update after Android 3.0 Gingerbread, may be titled ‘Honeycomb’. Nothing is confirmed yet though, but it has a nice ring to it doesn’t it?

As reported from BGR, the information has come from a report by TechRadar, who also states that Honeycomb may end up being the codename for Android 3.1 or 3.2, and not just a jump up straight to Android 4.0.

I’m not sure about you, but I’d rather get some solid details on Android 3.0 Gingerbread first, before we hear any rumors about Android 4.0. Google has been pretty reluctant to get the ball rolling on Android 3.0, maybe it is due to the fact that they are still having a hard time rolling out Froyo to carriers.

What are your thoughts on ‘Honeycomb’ – Do you like the alleged name or not?

I like the sound of Honeycomb. It imparts a sense of structural stability =)

Any future upgrades would be great but I’m hoping the current crop of Android smartphones (Incredible, X, D2) will be compatible with them as opposed to having to buy another phone. I’m going to be purchasing a D2 next month and I want to enjoy it for awhile.
