Egg Recall: List of Products Affected

We have some worrying news to bring you now, as it has been confirmed via the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that an egg recall has now been launched across the US.

According to this report by USAToday, the recall is due to an ongoing outbreak of salmonella, which has sickened hundreds of people since May, according to the CDC. Worst of all, the problem appears to be still ongoing, but has now been tracked to in-shell eggs from Wright County Egg in Galt, Iowa.

Wright County Eggs sell their products to a number of brand names. These include Albertson, Lucerne, Sunshine, Mountain Dairy, Dutch Farms, Ralph’s, Hillandale, Boomsma’s, Trafficanda, Farm Fresh, Shoreland, Lund and Kemps.

If you have recently bought egg products from one of the brand names listed above, you should look out for plant numbers P-1026, P-1413 and P-1946 which are contained on the packaging. You can return the eggs to where you bought them for a full refund.

    The problem with all these food recalls are the manufacturers. If they were doing their job the right way the first time we wouldn't have to worry about these contamination scares all the time. I have a pregnant wife and she loves Farm Fresh eggs so now I have to take my eggs back which costs me out of pocket because neither the store or the producer are going to reimberse me for my food.

      It says right in the article, "You can return the eggs to where you bought them for a full refund."

    I think what he meant was, that the eggs also ruined whatever he added them to. Ex. If he made a cake, the eggs ruined all the ingredients in the cake..

    The guy was right about blaming the manufacturer, and just because you can get a refund this time doesn't mean other companies/stores will offer one for something else. So instead of being a jerk, make your own statement.

    Salmonella occurs naturally in the hen's intestinal tract which is also where the eggs emerge. Salmonella is not harmful to chickens. It is to humans. Eggs need to be washed to remove the bacteria from the shell.

      If salmonella is in the reproduction track of the chicken, and does not harm the chicken, but in turns tramssiat that to the inside of the egg. Washing the egg will not do much to stop the problem. However it is not just one or two chicken that are infected it seems like there is a whole bunch, other wise there would only be a few eggs that are infected.
      But with the number qouted it must be the majority of this operation laying hens. The next question since these hen are infected, do they now get rid of the hens? This it seems has been only effected one place where they produce the thousands of eggs. There are other places like this, have any of their hens got infected? How about the free roaming hens, do they get infected?
      Is this a one time things? Or will it be going on for a while until all are cleaned out?

    please be sure to check your lot numbers on the side of the carton. Dutch Farms product was Distributed only by Walgreens in Iowa, kansas, nebraska, south Dakota,
    arkansas and Misouri. no other Dutch Farm Labels distributed anywhere else is affected by this recall

    According to http://www.eggsafety.org the list is as follows:

    Eggs are packaged under the following brand names: Albertsons, Farm Fresh, James Farms, Glenview, Mountain Dairy, Ralphs, Boomsma, Lund, Kemps and Pacific Coast. Eggs are packed in varying sizes of cartons (6-egg cartons, dozen egg cartons, 18-egg cartons, and loose eggs for institutional use and repackaging) with Julian dates ranging from 136 to 229 and plant numbers 1720 and 1942.

    Joe is correct in everything he said, but the part of this list that is still missing is the list of distributors the tainted eggs were sold to, and if the eggs were repackaged with store names, and the state or location they sell to. A large chain of stores might repackage the product and have stores in multiples of states. So Jack is right! Where's the list?

    I agree with Jack. I keep going to FOX News and click on HEALTH. All these stories come up ABOUT the eggs, but I can't get "THE LIST". Why is this so ridiculously HARD? They gave the LIST on the news, but it didn't stay long enough to copy it. This is the first I got anything about 'THE LIST' ON PCH.com, of all sites, doing a search, but HOW DO I GET THE FULL LIST?

    I have been eating eggs from those plants since well before the recall started in May and up until they were pulled from the local markets in my home town yesterday. I didn't get poisoning. I understand the concern, especially for families with children (like mine) but maybe being a little more careful about how we prepare our food in our own kitchens would eliminate some of this. By the way, we had these eggs yesterday morning and my 6 year old is currently outside playing with his cousins NOT sick from salmonella.

    i noticed they dont have a very good list of products effected… I got all the symtoms of the illness sominella or whatever its called by eating premaid potato salad.. they were right about at one point you just want to die…it was horrible.. hope nobody dies from this..
