GamesCom 2010: New 160GB Sony PS3 Console coming

By Alan Ng - Aug 17, 2010

With just hours before Sony’s GamesCom keynote is due to start, it looks like one of their planned major announcements has been leaked, no surprise there. A US Retailer has listed a new 160GB PS3 console as coming soon.

As reported from VG247, the listing by GameStop has since been removed, which probably means that they published the juicy information a little early than Sony were expecting.

The 160GB PS3 console was listed as ‘just announced’, and that it is ‘now shipping’. This means that Sony may be releasing their new console this week, as soon as their GamesCom conference is over with.

No pricing details from GameStop though – we’ll probably get an official announcement of this from Sony in a few hours time. Would you be interested in a 160GB console or not? Personally speaking, 60GB is plenty for me!

    this is total crap!
    I already have a 160gb ps3 and i've had for bout 1 and a half years!
also it was sold as a limted edtion so if they are releasing it again its hardly limted edition…… this could make the value of my ps3 lower if i ever wanted to sell e.g when the ps4 comes out…. also whats the point of releasing 160gb as well as 120 and 250,……. i only bought the 160gb limted edition because it had the largest hardrive at the time

how can 60GB be enough for you?! I had 40GB console which was always packed full and in order to play new games i had to sacrifice another (delete and delete). Now when having 250Gb i feel much better / no need to delete data constantly and no worries about the constant updates. why bother about 160GB if there is 250GB??!! Anyway, main news are going to be GT5 and Move.

A 160 GB model and 320 GB model is already available in Japan (it's white as well). They are now phasing out the 120 and 250 GB models.
